United Military Boarding - Analyzing the airline boarding process is not always the easiest task because there are many types of boarding groups (and subgroups).
Between early boarding and all the elite class passengers, it can be hard to keep track when you need to line up at the gate.
United Military Boarding
In this article, I'll break down all of United Airlines' check-in groups and explain exactly how the check-in process works and how to avoid getting stuck in the dreaded Group 4 or Group 5 check-in groups.

I'll also show you what to expect in terms of legroom and the different planes you can fly on.
One hour before your flight boarding time if you do not check baggage and at least 90 minutes before your flight departure time if you check baggage
If you are a seasoned traveler or familiar with the airport and wait times, you can certainly arrive even sooner, especially if you have TSA Pre-Check and/or CLEAR.
Once you arrive at the airport, the first thing you need to do is confirm your boarding gate and time.

You can always see the estimated boarding time on your boarding pass. Just keep in mind that this time is subject to change depending on the condition of the brakes.
Also, it is always possible that your boarding gate will change as well, so always keep an eye on the flight monitors located in all airports and lounges.
For most airlines, you can use the United Airlines app and set up push notifications for when boarding begins. Of course, you'd also be wise to keep track of the time yourself in case you don't get the push notification.
Planes usually start boarding 35-50 minutes before departure, depending on the size of the plane. For example, a 737 may start boarding 35 minutes before departure, but a 757 will arrive in about 50 minutes.

However, if you are flying a large airline and want to be near the front of the line, you may need to arrive even more than 15 minutes before boarding.
Once you get to the gate to enter, you should see signs telling you where to line up.
Teams 1 and 2 will be able to line up, but United can request that teams 3-5 take seats until those teams are invited next time.
Team 1 will enter the blue path and Team 2 will enter the green path (as you can see in the photo below).
Types Of Boarding Schools In The United States Of America
If you are in Group 1 or 2 and you arrive late, you can always enter through the blue lane and skip the other lines.
A good practice is to simply walk to the front of the blue lane and then wait for the agent to move for you to come to the front.

I'll go into detail about each club below, but once again here's a summary of United's order of clubs.
When You Treat Everyone As Special, No One Feels Special
Unaccompanied minors are children ages 5-14 who are traveling without a parent, legal guardian, or someone under the age of 18. There are special rules regarding traveling as an unaccompanied minor and you can read more about them here.
If you have a visible disability (such as being in a wheelchair, on crutches, etc.), you will be able to enter with no questions asked.
But if your disability doesn't show up as it does, you should talk to the gate agent to get your first boarding. (Ideally, the gate agent should make an announcement about boarding with a disability.)
It is a bit mysterious that you have to invite yourself to join this situation. The questions have a lot to do with how much money you spend and the types of flights you book. You can read more about United Global Services and the requirements here.

Premier 1K is the highest level club. Elite tier is not an invite-only tier and can be earned by completing the following requirements:
Group 1 caters for intermediate elite members as well as anyone flying first, business or Polaris class.
Star Alliance Gold status is the highest level of Star Alliance status and you will receive it if you are a United Premier Gold member. This position is useful because it comes with salon benefits.
If you're flying on a top-line flight (United Polaris, United First, and United Business), you'll be able to board with Group One.

If you're flying a large plane like the Dreamliner, the line in Group 1 can be very long, so it's in your best interest to arrive at the gate early if you want to be the first to board. To learn more about United's first-class experience, click here.
The Second Group is for members of the lower elite and also for certain customers who have exclusive cards or who have purchased priority boarding privileges. This line can also be quite long at times.
United Premier Silver is the lowest level of status with United Airlines. This position is easily obtainable and can even be obtained with the Marriott position. Click here to read more about the United Silver location.
Star Alliance Silver status is the lowest level of Star Alliance status and you will receive it if you are a member of United Premier Silver.

Even if you don't have elite status and don't fly business or first class, you can upgrade to priority boarding by purchasing or purchasing Premier Access.
First boarding fees start at $15 and whether or not it's worth it just depends on how much it costs you to get on board.
If you choose to purchase Premier Access, in addition to Unified Check-in, you'll also enjoy the convenience of dedicated airport check-in lines and dedicated security systems, where available. Learn more about purchasing Premier Access.
If you're a United partner cardholder for the Explorer Card, United Club Card or Executive Plus Card, you can still get priority boarding.

I'm a big fan of the Explorer card because it offers great perks like free checked bags (especially on international flights), free boarding, an expanded list of rewards, and you get one-day transfers too. Two free United Club rooms each year. And on top of that, the Explorer card often comes with a great welcome bonus.

Groups 3-5 don't line up until others start boarding and almost everyone is in economy class. The secret to boarding a group 3 vs. a group 4 or a group 5 is choosing the right type of seat.
Economy passengers who choose a window seat should get Group 3, passengers who choose a middle or aisle seat should get Group 4, and passengers who choose Basic Economy will get Group 5.
What You Need To Know About United's New Boarding Method Designed To Slash Your Time In Line
This order is optimized so passengers don't have to push each other and I confirmed with a United representative that they are still using this order as of late 2022.
Economy Plus will take Group 3 although the United representative also said that it is possible they will take Group 4 as well.
Economy plus is a more expensive version of Economy that allows you more legroom.
Economy class upgrade prices will also vary depending on seat location and length of route.

If you have United Elite status, you'll also be constantly flying from economy to economy. (This is the case even with the lowest level of status.)
Basic Economy tickets are the cheapest type of ticket and don't come with benefits like free transfer or the ability to choose a seat.
These aren't great for traveling families who'd like to stay together on the plane, but if you're just trying to find the easiest way to get from point A to point B, this may be a good option.
There is a difference to note here. Premier members, Chase cardholders with qualifying cards and Star Alliance Gold members will also receive priority boarding.
Check In And Airport Processing Times
If you're in the early groups, you shouldn't have a problem getting on the plane, but if you make it to the end, like Group 4 or Group 5, you probably won't have enough. . space for your hand luggage in the overhead compartments.
In this case, you will need to check in your luggage at the gate. (Read here for more information on what type of luggage you can bring on the plane.)
Seats are assigned on United flights. Therefore
